Employee Spotlight: Patty Barnes

This week, we decided to start something new with our blogs: employee spotlights! We think this is a perfect opportunity to recognize and thank our hard-working employees and let everyone else get to know them a little better too!

Our first employee spotlight will be with a familiar face around Istueta: Our lovely administrative assistant, Patty Barnes! Enjoy reading and getting to know Patty a little better!

Getting to know Patty

Tell us a little about your background: I was bom in Barranquilla, Colombia (like Sofia Vergara from the show Modem Family). My parents moved to the US when l was 4 years old and I have lived in Miami ever since. l graduated high school at 16 from Inter American Military Academy and graduated with an Associate in Science from Miami Dade College.

How long have you worked at Istueta Roofing and what do you do? 3.5 years. I am the administrative assistant for the owner, Frank Istueta. l answer the phone, set up appointments for estimates, and provide the best customer service in Miami!

What is the most rewarding part of your job? Making Cuban Coffee (cortadito) in the mornings and seeing everyone enjoying it – even those that never drank Coffee before.

What surprised you most about working here? In this type of industry, companies come and go – here today, gone tomorrow. What surprised me the most about working here is that Istueta  Roofing has been serving our Community providing excellent service to our clients for over 25 years, changing the perspective of the roofing contractors industry.

What are some of your hobbies when you’re not working? Running 5K’s for a good cause. Reading everything and anything. It doesn’t always mean I have to agree with what I read but I learn something.

If someone writes a biography about you, what do you think the title should be? Taken by Surprise

What is the best vacation you ever went on? Barcelona, Spain

What is something you’ve always wanted to try? I’ve always wanted to try to go on a hot air balloon ín Albuquerque, New Mexico during their hot air balloon festival.

What is something that most people don’t know about you? That I used to be shy.

Where do you see yourself in 20 years? Living in a villa in Tuscany, Italy.
