Employee Spotlight: Ariel Istueta

In March, we started an employee spotlight segment so that you could get to know who we are a little better.

This month we are featuring Ariel Istueta, who happens to be an integral part of this family-owned business, as well as our rockstar marketing director.

Q&A with Ariel Istueta

Tell us a little about your background.

I was born and raised right here in Miami, Florida, where I attended Greater Miami Academy until I was seventeen years old. After that, I attended Florida International University and Miami Dade College.

How long have you worked at Istueta Roofing, and what do you do?

I’ve been in the family business for eight years now, and I love every moment of it. My main responsibilities are to help our clients and to guide the marketing in the right direction for the company.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Being able to make the people we work with happy. I get really excited about that. I love helping and creating extraordinary experiences for others in both my personal and my professional life.

What surprised you most about working here?

Two things have really surprised me.

1. What there is to learn. We are always reinventing and educating ourselves on everything in the roofing industry.
2. How much traveling there is. I didn’t think I would get to travel so much! We travel multiple times throughout the year to attend conferences and masterminds and to receive training all over the country. We’ve met so many great people, and I’m grateful for that opportunity.

What are some of your hobbies when you’re not working?

I LOVE cooking. I also enjoy reading, taking videos and photos with my cameras (GoPro and Panasonic Lumix G5), watching movies and shows (Game of Thrones!), watching sports, and spending time with my friends and family. I really enjoy fishing and scuba diving as well. And of course, the New York Jets. I’m a HUGE fan!

What is your personal motto?

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”

What was the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

My family and I had the wonderful opportunity a few summers ago to visit France, Italy, and Spain. That is the greatest vacation I have ever been on. We created so many wonderful memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I’m so thankful for that.

What is something you’ve always wanted to try?

I’ve always wanted to try completing a triathlon or some other sort of marathon.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know I’m a really big fan of Star Wars, and sci-fi in general.

Where do you see yourself in twenty years?

I see myself doing all the things I love and traveling often to places new and old. And hopefully witnessing the New York Jets winning a Super Bowl or two (or more!) by then! Crossing my fingers!
