Maintaining a Metal Roof is a Professional Job

Last week, I told you about Tile Roof Maintenance and why it’s important. This week, I’m going to tell you about another one of our specialities: Metal Roof Maintenance. And trust me, as a professional roofer in Miami, Florida for over 25 years, we know our stuff!

What maintenance does a metal roof need?

Inspection

It is important to have your metal roof inspected regularly. We can check for any damaged or missing sealant and look for other damage such as holes, open seams, or any paint that needs touching up.

Cleaning

Keeping your metal roof clean will keep it looking its best and reveal any problems that may be occurring due to debris build up.

With our Platinum Client Maintenance Program, your roof will get inspected and cleaned twice a year.

Repair and Replace

If there are any holes or open seams, they need to be repaired right away. Touching up paint is important to prevent rust that can form if the metal is exposed.

We can also replace or tighten screws or fastener gaskets that may have become dislodged or damaged.

Why hire a professional roofer?

Again, I want to emphasize the importance of having a professional roofer do this job for you.

Danger and Damage

As you know from my last post, walking on a roof, especially a metal roof, is dangerous – especially if you don’t have a lot of experience with it.

Beyond that, you can damage your metal roof in a few ways if you don’t know what you’re doing. Metal is thin, so while you won’t fall through if you step on it, you will likely dent it. Also, if you scratch the surface, you can expose the metal which can lead to corrosion.

Experience

We have years of experience and knowledge so we choose the right materials and use them in the right way. For instance, metals react to each other so using the wrong hardware or doing your own repairs with the wrong type of metal can actually cause erosion.

You could also use the wrong kind of sealant in the wrong area. Chimneys need a special type of caulking to withstand the heat, for example.

Having a professional take care of your roofing gives you the peace of mind that everything was done right. Trust me, you don’t want to be stuck with roof problems in the middle of a Miami storm!
